Accessibility statement

Built for a volunteer on a phone in a cold hall.

Our customers include councils, schools and leisure trusts who are right to ask about accessibility, and volunteers who are not all using a new laptop with perfect eyesight. This statement says where we stand, honestly.

01What this covers

This statement covers the Muster website at musterworks.co.uk, including the free scope checker and guide, the signed-in application, the emails we send and the PDF documents the product generates. It is run by BlocksUI Ltd.

02How accessible it is

We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA. The website and application are partially conformant: most content meets the standard, and the exceptions are listed below. You should be able to:

  • zoom to 400% without content being cut off or overlapping;
  • use every feature with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator;
  • use a screen reader, with headings, landmarks and labels that make sense in order;
  • read text at a contrast of at least 4.5:1 against its background;
  • use the site in light or dark mode, following your system setting;
  • complete every form with clear labels, hints and error messages tied to the field.

Status is never conveyed by colour alone: every red, amber and green marker carries a word or a symbol as well.

03Known issues

  • PDF exports. The evidence pack, noticeboard sheet and scope result PDFs are generated with real text, headings and reading order, but we have not yet verified them as tagged PDF (PDF/UA), so some screen readers may not announce structure fully. The same information is always available on screen and in the open-format data export. We plan to verify tagging in a later release.
  • Register grid. The briefing grid on the People page is a wide table. It scrolls horizontally on narrow screens and every cell has a text label, but navigating it with a screen reader is slower than we would like. We are working on a list view.
  • Logo upload preview. The pack cover preview on the organisation settings page is decorative and hidden from assistive technology; the information it shows is repeated in the form.
  • Reduced motion. Marketing pages use a small reveal animation. It is disabled when your system asks for reduced motion; if you find any movement that is not, tell us.

04What we have done

Semantic HTML throughout, with one heading hierarchy per page. Forms built from a single set of components so labels, hints and errors are wired the same way everywhere. A minimum body size of 16px and line length limited for reading. Testing with keyboard only, with VoiceOver on Safari and NVDA on Firefox, and with browser zoom. Colour pairs checked against WCAG contrast thresholds in both themes.

05Reporting a problem

If you cannot use part of Muster, or need information in another format, email [email protected]. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and what assistive technology you use, if any. We aim to reply within two working days and to fix genuine barriers quickly rather than schedule them.

06Enforcement

The Equality and Human Rights Commission is responsible for enforcing the accessibility regulations that apply to public sector bodies, and the Equality Act 2010 more broadly. If you are not happy with how we respond to a complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS). We would rather you gave us the chance to put it right first.

07How this statement was prepared

This statement was prepared on 3 September 2026 following a self-assessment of the website and application against WCAG 2.2 AA. It will be reviewed whenever we make a significant change to the interface, and at least once a year.
